Jackson Hole Mountain Resort “Thankful” for Opening Day Celebrations
Teton Village, WY (December 3, 2013) -- Last Friday, November 29th, 2013, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) hosted over 4,300 skiers and snowboarders in Teton Village for a Community Ski FREE Day. The FREE ski day was organized as a thank you to the community for its help in achieving the #1 Ski Resort ranking by Ski Magazine for 2014. The day was a mix of #1 fun surprises including live music, raffle prizes, food and drink specials and the opening of the Bridger Gondola to accommodate the large number of skiers and riders.
“People came from all over our region to ski, shop, eat, listen to music, and to donate to charitable causes. Overall everyone had a great time, and it was exhilarating to see Teton Village full of such great energy on opening weekend,” stated JHMR President, Jerry Blann. Thanks to the generous cash donations of all who enjoyed FREE ski day over $1,600 was raised for Teton Adaptive Sports scholarship fund and Friends of Pathways. With the JHMR match each non-profit received a total of $2013. “We are excited to be able to help give back to our community, and JHMR was happy to exceed a matched donation to both non-profits. This is exactly the type of outcome we hoped for,” noted Blann. Thanks to the new resort partner Jeep, over 1,500 number #1 cookies (lovingly baked by the great team at Persephone Bakery) were handed out, and thousands were introduced to the new Jeep Grand Cherokee.
“We were so pleased to be part of this celebration,” commented Jeff Golightly, Chamber of Commerce CEO. “We had a record turn-out at the Town Square lighting Friday evening and excellent feedback from the “White Friday” concept to ask locals to stay, ski, shop and dine locally at this time of year. Working together with JHMR to get this word out makes sense, and I believe strongly we saw the results on Friday. Guests came to Jackson Hole from as far as Seattle, WA as well as large numbers from throughout Wyoming, Idaho and Utah, ” Golightly added.
With a significant winter storm dropping almost two feet of snow in the last two days, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort now has 111 inches of snow season to date. With this new snow, JHMR is planning to open more terrain and lifts by the weekend. Visit jacksonhole.com for the most up to date information.
